Protect me. Save me. Don't let the bad men take me!
They'll harm me, shame me. Your nightmares will come true!
Lock me up in safety, keep me away from the risks of danger.
I'm your china upon the shelf.

Love me. Adore me. Raise me to be praised!
They'll admire me, complement me. Your dreams will be achieved!
Place me up with pride, keep me perfect in this world.
I'm your china upon the shelf.

Precious. Fragile. Perfection protected behind locks.
Beautiful. Innocent. Pride portrayed through glass.
Protect me! Praise me! Keep me in safety!
For I'm the china upon your shelf.
Another metaphor poem regarding china others will lock up in glass shelves but never use for the fear of them being broken, which is similar how over-protective parents will be. They care so much for their child that they don't want nothing bad to happen; always worrying about the worse possibilities, giving you restrictions to keep you safe out of harms way.

Sometimes it doesn't feel as if that's really why your parents our being overprotective though :l and in all honesty, if they are that way than their child might as well be as fragile as china seeing as how they don't get to experience things they could possibly learn from by making mistakes. I speak from personal experience on that >.> Sometimes it best to just throw someone into something and see how they deal with it. I'm not saying you should do that with everything though, some things do need protection and guidance.
I do like the poem though~ and I love the way its written. Its kinda got a bounce to it when you read it, which I haven't really seen much anywhere else. I like that.
