Trapped in the castle she watches below
At the freedom of the peasants entering in and out
Oh the life they must live; How splendid it must be!
No commands nor guards, they can go wherever they please!
She wishes to live among the commoners, to marry a decent man
Not these princes who hide behind their riches to get what they need.

Being worked to the bone, he hammers his days away
A moment of rest he glances bitterly at the castle above
Oh the life they must have; Must be splendid to live in royalty
No laws nor chores to obey, they live in luxury
He longs to live upon the castle grounds, surround himself in riches,
Never to worry about the pain of live he’s forced to see

From the castle to the streets, their eyes meet
Envy with desire flaws through their hearts
How the golden-dress princess lives the life I dreamed?
How come the noble blacksmith lives the days freed?
They beg to live in the world of the other
Not seeing through each other’s eyes, the hardships wouldn’t be believed.
This is an old poem I written least a year or two ago in one of my English classes. The assignment was regarding write a poem about the different views of someone low class and high class, so I wrote about the cliche of worker and a princess wanting the live of the other when both sides have its perks and down sides.
